From the time of unification in 1972 until the turn of the century, the Military Occupation Code (“MOC”) for Military Police was “811”. This number hold special significance to our retired members, as well as those who joined when their job was still called “MP 811”.
When the serialized coins first arrived from the manufacturer, we pulled coin #811 from circulation as we knew it would be highly sought after. Likewise, coin #2015 was also pulled from circulation…this is the coin that bears the date of our 75th Anniversary.
These two coins haven’t been available for sale…until now!
To give everyone a fair chance to purchase these special coins, we will be conducting a unique on-line silent auction.
Here’s how it works:
(2) Your bid will be recorded by the MP75 webmaster.
(3) At 9:00 p.m. (EST) each day during the period, we will be posting the current “high bid” online. This will give you the chance to resubmit a new, higher bid the following day.
At the conclusion of the auction, we will post the winning bid online during the evening of 18 January 2015, and contact the winner directly by email.
Once contacted, you will have 14 days to remit payment (including shipping and handling) for your coin. If you do not remit payment within the allotted time, the person who had the next highest bid will be declared the winner of the auction.
This is going to be an exciting contest, and we expect the bids to roll in quickly!
